Crypteffigies Heinrich, 1961
Crypteffigies is a small genus with only two Neactic species. Overall, it is quite similar to Cratichneumon except that females have an elongated ovipositor compared to the vast majority of ichneumonines.
The two Nearctic species occur at higher latitudes in the Northeast US, Alaska, and likely throughout Canada.
Diagnosis
- first metasomal segment with postpetiole usually granulate or infrequently smooth
- anterior margin of propodeum without median tubercle
- female metasomal apex oxypygous with an elongated ovipositor that extends beyond apex (fig. 1)
