Heterischnus Wesmael, 1859
Heterischnus is a moderate-sized genus that occurs worldwide. There are four recorded species in North America. Heterischnus diagnosed by the unidentate mandible, convex scutellum, and wide gastrocoeli and thyridia. Stenodontus, Heterischnus is the only other unidentate phaeogenin genus in North America.

- mandible unidentate and sickle-shaped
- female without hind coxal
- gastrocoeli and thyridia well-developed and wider than interthyridial width
- scutellum raised above postscutellum
- female metasomal apex oxypygous
